Prime Minister Harper Welcome to Huamei-Bond International College in Guangzhou
Bond Education Group Recognized by Federal Government for Its Great Contribution in Education
On Friday, February 10th Prime Minister Harper visited Huamei – Bond International College in Guangzhou. The Prime Minister had several objectives for his trip to China. One of his major objectives was to focus on education and to promote both Canada as a destination for Chinese students as well as the development of Canadian educational programs in China. Focusing on and showing support for Canadian programs in China was demonstrated through his visit to the Bond school in Guangzhou. At the same time, his purpose in promoting Canada as a destination for Chinese students attending university was also achieved through this visit.
During this visit he, along with his wife Laureen and several Canadian and Chinese cabinet ministers and senior officials, were greeted by close to 500 students all with the intention of graduating with their Ontario Secondary School Diploma and applying to universities across Canada. Also accompanying the Prime Minister was David Mulroney, Canadian Ambassador to China and the Canadian Consulate staff from Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Chongqing.
It takes the commitment to excellence from both Bond and its partner schools in China to create the type of Canadian school that the Prime Minister’s staff would recommend for this visit. Certainly, that speaks highly of Robert McDonnell, Bond co-principal in the Ontario Program as well as Chen Feng, Huamei co-principal and their highly committed Canadian and Chinese staff at Huamei Bond. It also shows the commitment of Bond and Huamei senior staff and particularly Hugh McKeown, Director of International Programs and Xiong Jia, principal of our partner school, Huamei Foreign Language School.
The Bond Education Group takes great pride in knowing that although he visited Beijing and Chongqing as well as Guangzhou and that he could have chosen other Canadian school programs in those cities, it was a Bond school that was featured in his visit. Dr. Ningyu Li, the President of Bond Education Group, stated that it spoke highly of our whole Bond Schools in China program. Dr. Li and her staff have been told that the quality of the Bond Schools across China and the direction they are heading was also a big factor in the selection of the visitation school.
“Our schools in Shanghai, Shenzhen, Nanjing and Tianjin can be proud that they have all played a part in the recognition Bond is receiving. When we are right in the middle of things, we often focus on ideas for and ways to improve. As we move forward, we will continue to do just that. For the moment, please be proud that both within the Bond organization and beyond, you are all being recognized and the staff of the Bond Education Group are so very proud of all that you have accomplished,” directed by Dr. Ningyu Li in her message to the staff at Bond Education Group.
As the president of Bond Education Group, Dr. Ningyu Li expressed thanks to all of the staff in China and Canada for their hard work and contribution to the success of Bond Education Group. Dr. Li also looked forward to continuing the journey to making Bond Schools International the flagship Canadian program in China and Bond International College the school of choice for secondary students wishing to study in Canada.
